A season reward can be unlocked without being ready for your village. You may still need to choose one of two items, create room in a particular inventory or decide whether using something you already own would help your next upgrade. Leaving every decision until the season ends gives the game permission to choose defaults and convert overflow for you.

Use this guide to review the Silver or Gold reward track before its countdown expires. The goal is to keep rewards you can actually use without spending Gems, consuming valuable items or starting unwanted upgrades just to clear space. The worked numbers below are hypothetical account states, not fixed rewards or upgrade prices.

Start with the unclaimed list, then check three different limits

Open Gold Pass, enter Pass Rewards and enable “Unclaimed rewards only.” The current interface has a dedicated Gold Pass button and a separate Magic Items button, so you can move between the rewards you have earned and the items you already hold without following an old guide through the Town Hall menu.

Read the remaining Season Points requirement as well as the reward icon. Count only rewards unlocked on a track you can access. A displayed Gold milestone does not become claimable through points alone without the Gold Pass. End-of-season collection does not complete the track for you.

What to inspect The question to answer Why it changes your next move
Reward milestone Is it unlocked, and does it offer a choice? An unlocked choice still needs a deliberate selection if you do not want the first option.
Matching resource storage How much room is available for this exact resource? Gold space cannot absorb Elixir, and Home Village room does not solve Builder Base capacity.
Matching Magic Item inventory Can another copy of this item fit? Resource space and item space are separate. Having empty Gold storage does not itself free a Rune inventory slot.
Planned upgrade or item use Can I use the existing item on something I genuinely want now? An item is useful only when its requirements and your plan line up.

Make a short list of exceptions rather than copying the whole track: choices you still need to make, resource rewards larger than the available room, and Magic Items whose inventories are full. Those are the rewards that need decisions. A reward that already fits and supports your plan usually needs no complicated preparation.

Make your choice before the first option becomes your choice

At choice milestones, compare both options against your next useful action. Supercell specifies that an unclaimed choice defaults to the first option shown when the season ends. The game is not choosing the reward that best matches your village, and a full inventory can turn that default into Gems.

For a hypothetical choice, suppose the first displayed option is a Rune of Gold and the second is a Rune of Elixir. Your Gold upgrade plan is already funded, while Elixir is the resource you need for your next planned research. If you can store and use the Elixir Rune appropriately, manually choosing it preserves the reward that serves your plan. Leaving the milestone alone selects the Gold Rune instead, even though Elixir was your bottleneck. Use the options actually displayed on your track; this example is not a promise that every season or account has that pair in that order.

For a cosmetic choice, preference can be the deciding factor. Check which skin you want rather than treating the first picture as a recommendation. Already-owned skins appear greyed out. An earned Hero Skin can be stored even if you have not unlocked its Hero, so the missing Hero alone is not a reason to dismiss that skin.

Resolve choices before a collection sweep so you can prepare capacity for the rewards you actually want.

Understand what automatic collection actually saves

When the season ends, unlocked but unclaimed rewards are collected automatically. That protects the entitlement, but it does not guarantee you receive every reward in its original form. Full storage can cause conversion, and an unattended choice follows the first displayed option.

Unclaimed reward at season end What happens What to settle beforehand
Ordinary resource reward The amount that fits is kept; the missing share converts proportionally against a maximum of 5 Gems. Make useful room if retaining the resource matters.
Magic Item that cannot fit It converts at its selling value in Gems, not its Trader purchase price. Check the existing item and whether a useful eligible use is available.
Choice reward The first displayed option is selected, with the normal overflow conversion where relevant. Select your preferred option yourself.
Chest It is collected and available to open on your next login after the season ends. Do not budget a specific random reward before seeing it.
Hero Skin The earned skin is stored, including when its Hero is not yet owned. Pick the skin you want if the milestone offers a choice.

Compare the benefit of keeping an item with its displayed selling value, rather than its Trader purchase price.

Calculate resource room before collecting

For an ordinary resource reward, subtract your current balance from that resource’s storage capacity. If your balance already meets or exceeds capacity, treat the available room as zero. Compare that room with the amount on the reward tile. Do this separately for each resource and village.

Suppose an unlocked reward contains 1,000,000 Gold, but only 200,000 Gold can fit at automatic season-end collection. You keep that 200,000. The missing 800,000 is 80% of the reward, so the conversion is 80% of the five-Gem maximum: 4 Gems. You do not receive five Gems plus all the Gold, and the missing amount does not become a reserve you can collect later.

Hypothetical storage state What automatic collection retains What this tells you
At least 1,000,000 room for a 1,000,000 reward The full 1,000,000 resource reward. No capacity action is needed for this reward.
200,000 room for a 1,000,000 reward 200,000 resources and 4 Gems. Most of the resource reward will be converted.
No room for a 1,000,000 reward No resources from that reward and the 5-Gem maximum. Decide whether useful spending before reset is available.

These examples explain the documented automatic rollover rule, not every manual claim prompt. Read the confirmation shown in your game before accepting a conversion. The exact arithmetic above uses proportions with whole-number Gem results and makes no assumption about rounding other fractions.

Create room through an eligible upgrade already in your plan. If no useful action is ready, accepting the fallback may be better than paying Gems or making an unwanted purchase.

Treat Magic Item room separately from resource room

Open Magic Items and inspect the item named on the reward, including its current count and displayed limit. Do not assume a spare slot for one type means room for another. Equally, receiving Gold does not clear an item slot, and consuming an item does not necessarily create room in the resource storage you need.

If an existing item blocks a reward you want, check whether you can use the owned item productively before claiming the replacement. Confirm its eligible target, any required worker or resources, and the outcome you actually want. After using it, check that the count has changed, then return to the unclaimed reward. This keeps the sequence visible instead of relying on an assumed direct-use shortcut.

A Rune example: spend usefully, refill, then claim the replacement

A Rune fills the matching resource storage, and it cannot be used when that storage is full. That makes the order of actions important when you already own a Rune and want room for another. Start with the upgrade you would choose anyway, then calculate the refill it leaves room for.

Suppose your Gold capacity is 10 million, you hold 8 million Gold and an owned Gold Rune blocks the Rune reward you want to claim. You already intend to start an eligible 7 million Gold upgrade, and the required Builder is available. Starting that upgrade leaves 1 million Gold. Using the owned Rune then refills 9 million Gold, taking the balance to 10 million. Check that consuming the Rune created item space, then claim the replacement from the track.

If you used the Rune at the original 8 million balance instead, it would add only 2 million. The useful upgrade is what makes the larger refill possible; the season reward is not a reason to invent a 7 million purchase. Also notice the result: the Rune inventory has room for a replacement, but Gold storage is now full. A separate Gold resource reward would still need its own capacity plan.

Direct Magic Item purchases made with real money can exceed the usual item limit. Do not extend that exception to Gold Pass track rewards merely because the pass was paid for: the season’s documented inventory and conversion rules still matter.

Keep the Hoggy Bank separate from ordinary track rewards

The Hoggy Bank has a different overflow rule. During the season, only loot that fits ordinary resource storage is saved to the bank. At season end, the bank’s full payout is delivered even if it exceeds storage capacity. The regular reward track’s five-Gem overflow conversion must not be applied to that bank payout.

For a hypothetical example, take a 10 million storage capacity, an 8 million current balance and a 6 million bank payout. The bank payout can leave you holding 14 million. That does not establish that a separate 1 million ordinary track reward can also overflow. Plan ordinary claims using their own capacity rules, without assuming the order in which automatic rewards and the bank will arrive.

Review the bank balance before your final session so you know a large payout is coming. If you want to retain ordinary resource rewards as resources, prepare room and handle those claims deliberately before rollover rather than relying on an undocumented processing order. After rollover, inspect the actual balance before making further resource plans.

Do not wait for a midseason Town Hall upgrade to enlarge the track

Resource rewards on the track scale from the Town Hall and Builder Hall levels recorded at the start of the season. Supercell identifies exceptions, including Clan Capital Gold and Wall Rings, so “everything gets bigger at a higher Town Hall” is not a safe rule.

If you upgrade your Town Hall halfway through the season, waiting until afterward to claim an ordinary track resource reward does not retroactively increase its season-start amount. A storage upgrade may change how much you can hold, but holding capacity and the amount awarded are different questions. Read the reward tile for the amount and your storage for the room.

Delay a claim for a concrete capacity or upgrade plan, not an expected increase in the current track’s reward amount.

Use your last reliable session, not the last possible minute

Use the countdown displayed in the game to decide when your review must be finished. Choose a session when you can inspect the whole list and act without rushing. A plan that depends on returning seconds before reset is fragile if an upgrade finishes late, your connection drops or you simply cannot log in.

First resolve every unlocked choice you care about. Then inspect full Magic Item inventories and use an owned item only where a worthwhile eligible action is ready. Next check resource room, carry out already-planned spending where appropriate and collect the rewards you can retain. Reopen the unclaimed filter afterward to see what is actually left.

For each remaining reward, make the outcome explicit: you still need Season Points to unlock it, you have chosen to accept the documented rollover fallback, or it is a chest that will be available next login. Do not count an unopened chest as a guaranteed Rune, Book or amount of currency when deciding whether your next upgrade is affordable.

After reset, open the collected chests, check your actual resource and Magic Item balances, and plan your next upgrades from what you received.
