Before using a Builder Potion, check two things: when your busy builders will finish, and whether you can start their next upgrades. The boost is most useful when builders have work throughout its duration.
A Builder Potion makes Home Village builders work at 10× speed for one hour. A builder who stays busy for that full hour completes ten hours of normal work. Because one real hour still passes, the extra progress is nine hours per builder.
Calculate when one upgrade will finish
Suppose a building has 20 hours left. After one boosted hour, it has ten hours left. The whole wait is therefore 11 hours instead of 20: the upgrade finishes nine hours earlier. The potion does not instantly remove ten hours.
| Time left before use | Wait with one potion | Earlier finish |
|---|---|---|
| 2 hours | 12 minutes | 1 hour 48 minutes |
| 5 hours | 30 minutes | 4 hours 30 minutes |
| 10 hours | 1 hour | 9 hours |
| 20 hours | 11 hours | 9 hours |
These are hypothetical timers, not upgrade times for particular building levels. For a job with ten hours or less remaining, divide its time by ten. For a longer job, subtract nine hours to find the total wait from activation. This assumes the job continues normally after the boost ends.
Keep builder-hours separate from your actual wait
Imagine five builders each have a 20-hour upgrade. One potion brings each finish time down to 11 hours. Across the five jobs, that is 45 builder-hours saved: five separate savings of nine hours each.
All five jobs still finish together after 11 hours, only nine hours earlier than without the potion. Adding their savings does not make one building finish 45 hours earlier. To plan your next login, look at the earliest individual finish; to know when every current job is done, look at the latest.
Avoid leaving builders idle during the boost
A short upgrade cannot use a whole potion hour by itself. In the two-hour example, the job finishes after 12 minutes. If you leave that builder idle, the remaining 48 minutes of boost produce no work for that builder. The other busy builders can still benefit.
Choose an affordable follow-up upgrade before activating the potion so you can put a freed builder back to work during the remaining boost. Include that next upgrade’s resource cost in your plan. Having enough resources for the current jobs does not mean you can fund their replacements.
- Count the Home Village builders currently working. An idle builder contributes no progress until you give it a job.
- Check each remaining timer. A job with at least ten hours left can keep its builder occupied for the entire one-hour boost under the assumptions above.
- For any shorter job, divide its remaining time by ten to estimate when that builder will become free. Decide whether you can return then and start the next planned upgrade.
- If you will be away, choose a window with longer jobs instead of counting on restarts you cannot make. Recheck the timers and the potion description before confirming use.
Choose between a deadline and maximum total progress
You do not always need the largest possible builder-hour total. If a two-hour job must finish within the next half hour, the calculated 12-minute finish can solve that specific timing problem. It still saves only one hour and 48 minutes on that job, and you need follow-up work to use the rest of that builder’s boost.
If there is no deadline, a window with more busy builders and fewer early finishes is easier to use efficiently. Do not start an unwanted upgrade just to make the busy-builder count look better.
