Township Train Time Upgrade Locked? Check the Train’s Upgrade Level

Open the Academy of Industry and check the train you want to improve. If its travel-time option is locked, look at the train’s upgrade requirements before grinding more town XP. Train improvements progress through more than one stat; you cannot keep choosing travel time alone.

Find what is blocking the upgrade

1. If you cannot access the Academy of Industry at all, check your town level. The Academy unlocks at level 22.
2. Inside the Academy, select the train and read the requirement beside the locked travel-time option. Compare it with the upgrade level shown for that train.
3. When travel time is locked, look for an available experience upgrade instead. It increases the XP from loading train cars and is part of the train’s required stat progression.
4. Check the ingot cost before confirming an available upgrade. Ingots come from foundries. After upgrading, reopen the train’s options and check whether travel time is now available.

Do not confuse the two levels

Town level controls access to the Academy. Once you are looking at a train’s upgrades, use that train’s displayed requirements to plan the next purchase. A higher town level alone is not a substitute for working through the train’s upgrade choices.
