Hardback combines word-building with a deck of letter cards that grows as you play. Spell words to earn resources, buy stronger letters, and race to 60 fame points. Cards belong to different literary genres, and matching their colors activates extra abilities. Any card can become a wild letter, while the ink system lets you risk drawing additional cards that still need to fit into a word. Timeless Classics remain available until someone uses them, and award cards give players another prize to contest. Play against three computer difficulty levels, share a device, or use asynchronous online matches. Hardcore mode forbids repeating words.
