Fort Sumter: The Secession Crisis

Fort Sumter turns the political struggle preceding the American Civil War into a two-player card game. Take the Unionist or Secessionist side and place, shift, or remove political capital across four crisis dimensions: politics, secession, public opinion, and armaments. Decide where to concentrate influence and when to challenge your opponent while preparing for the final confrontation after three rounds. The digital adaptation includes an offline computer opponent, local pass-and-play, and real-time or asynchronous online matches. Historical events provide the setting for this contest over influence before open war. Online play requires an internet connection, a Playdek account, and a player aged thirteen or older.
