First check whether Apple Health recorded the walk. If Health has the activity but Pokémon GO does not, focus on the connection and sync delay. If Health has no activity either, start with the phone’s activity recording rather than reinstalling the game.
Confirm Adventure Sync is enabled
Adventure Sync records distance while Pokémon GO is closed and is available from Trainer level 5. In Pokémon GO, open Main Menu → Settings → General → Adventure Sync. Enable it if you want background tracking, then grant the requested activity-data access to connect Apple Health.
Review iPhone access
- Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pokémon GO. Adventure Sync requires Always location access, not just While Using the App. Review the app’s explanation before granting background access.
- Open Apple Health → Summary → your profile picture, then tap Apps under Privacy. Select Pokémon GO if listed and enable the requested activity categories you want to share. If it is missing, return to Adventure Sync setup and check whether the Health permission request was completed.
- Check the walk’s activity in Health. Apple Health automatically records steps and walking/running distance; manually adding a distance will not make it count toward Adventure Sync.

Apple: app access to HealthSeparate a delay from failed tracking
Pokémon GO says syncing can take several hours. If Health shows a fresh walk, do not judge the connection from the game’s immediate reading alone. Reopen the game later; restarting the app may help delayed credit appear.
The phone’s battery-saving mode can interfere with Adventure Sync. For a comparison walk, turn that mode off if you are comfortable doing so and have enough battery. Pokémon GO’s own Battery Saver is different: it does not prevent distance tracking.
Make one comparison you can report
- Note the time and capture the current Health activity and Pokémon GO distance readings.
- Take a normal walk with the phone, without manually entering activity. Afterward, check whether Health recorded it.
- Allow several hours for syncing, reopen Pokémon GO and capture the same readings again. If Health recorded the walk but the game still shows no progress, contact in-app support. Include the times, screenshots, iPhone model, iOS version and game version.
If Health also records no activity on the comparison walk, ask Apple Support about activity recording on the iPhone. Fixing Pokémon GO’s connection cannot supply activity that the phone did not record.
