The town-management side connects to a larger strategy game. Resources are contested, heroes need recruiting and developing, and technological progress helps your settlement recover from the collapse around it. Laws give you another way to shape life inside the walls.

Outside those walls, alliances and rival governors turn personal progress into a shared competition. Building a capable squad and coordinating with other people become important parts of the appeal.
