Basic attack1 options
Artwork unavailableLOONY BALLOONSDetails

Fires balloons that build toward dropping a healing spirit after repeated hits. Gus or a teammate can collect the spirit to recover health. Consider where the spirit will be left: a heal on exposed ground is not automatically safe to collect.

Super1 options
Artwork unavailableSPOOKY BOYDetails

Places a shield on Gus or a teammate and pushes nearby enemies away. Use the shield to support a committed advance or protect someone under pressure, rather than waiting until a teammate is already beyond reach.

Gadgets2 options
KOOKY POPPERDetails

Detonates all uncollected spirits, damaging nearby enemies. Look for an opponent passing a spirit, but weigh the damage opportunity against your team's need for those pickups. With its Buffie upgrade, enemies caught by the explosions also lose ammunition.

KNOCKBACK SPIRITDetails

Throws a spirit that knocks enemies back and becomes a healing spirit at the end of its path. It can create breathing room while preparing a pickup. Its Buffie upgrade creates an additional spirit for each Brawler hit.

Star Powers2 options
HEALTH BONANZADetails

Increases healing from spirits. It favors a team that can safely collect pickups during repeated exchanges. With its Buffie upgrade, spirits slowly move toward the nearest ally, but you should still avoid encouraging teammates to cross dangerous ground for healing.

SPIRIT ANIMALDetails

Spooky temporarily increases a teammate's damage as well as providing its shield. Use it when the recipient can immediately pressure an opponent or an objective. Its Buffie upgrade also grants the ally a temporary movement-speed boost.

Hypercharge1 options
SPOOKY POPDetails

Makes the Super release spirits in multiple directions on impact. These spirits damage enemies and heal teammates, adding an area interaction to the shield delivery. Choose the impact position with both nearby teams in mind.

Gears6 options
DAMAGEDetails

Increases damage while the Brawler is below half health. The extra pressure is conditional, not a reason to remain in a losing exchange.

GADGET COOLDOWNDetails

Reduces the wait between Gadget uses. Choose it when repeated access to the selected Gadget meaningfully supports the fight.

HEALTHDetails

Improves health recovery. Leave enough room for natural recovery to begin instead of expecting the Gear to erase damage during continued attacks.

SHIELDDetails

Adds a consumable shield that recovers while the Brawler is at full health. Preserve recovery time between fights to restore the extra protection.

SPEEDDetails

Increases movement speed in bushes. Its value depends on having useful bush routes rather than simply equipping it on an open map.

VISIONDetails

Briefly reveals hidden opponents after you damage them. It helps track targets entering bushes, but does not reveal invisibility granted by abilities.

Overview

Description
Gus combines aimed balloon attacks with support that rewards watching the whole team. Landing attacks builds toward healing spirits, which he or his allies can collect. His Super, Spooky, shields himself or a teammate. Good Gus play alternates between pressuring an enemy lane and recognizing who needs protection before a fight turns against them.

How to play: Keep a clear firing angle without drifting so far away that supporting an ally becomes awkward. Watch your spirit meter and the positions where spirits appear; healing is useful only if someone can reach it safely. Aim Spooky deliberately at a teammate preparing to fight, rather than waiting until their escape is already cut off. Its projectile can pass through walls, letting you support an ally across cover.

Strengths: Gus contributes damage while preparing protection and healing for the team. His Gadget choice changes how he handles pressure: Kooky Popper converts uncollected spirits into an offensive threat, while Knockback Spirit provides a direct way to push enemies back and leave healing behind. Spirit Animal can turn a protective Super into an opportunity for an allied attack.

Limitations: Support requires timing and positioning. A spirit in enemy-controlled ground is not automatically safe healing, and detonating spirits removes pickups your allies might need. A shield can help someone survive an exchange, but it cannot make a poor route or an isolated push safe.

Practical tips: Check ally health before activating Kooky Popper. Save Knockback Spirit for an approach you need to interrupt or aim its endpoint where healing will be accessible. With Spirit Animal, look for a teammate who has ammunition and a target before committing Spooky; a damage boost is wasted while they cannot attack.
