On Windows, check the same Windows account you last played on before editing anything. If the farm is still missing, a matching pair of _old save files may restore the previous in-game day. Back up the entire character folder first; recovery is not guaranteed.

Find and protect the save

  1. Close Stardew Valley. Paste %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves into File Explorer’s address bar.
  2. Find your character’s folder, named like Robin_123456789. If it is absent, check the Recycle Bin and antivirus quarantine; this rename method cannot rebuild a missing folder.
  3. Copy the whole folder to a separate, clearly dated backup location outside Saves. Open the copy and confirm its files are present. Leave that backup untouched.

Restore both files together

The following example uses Robin_123456789. Substitute your folder’s exact name, including its numbers. In the original folder, look for both Robin_123456789_old and SaveGameInfo_old. If either is missing, stop this procedure.

  1. Move the current Robin_123456789 and SaveGameInfo files, if present, into a separate holding folder outside Saves. Keep them; do not delete or overwrite them.
  2. Rename Robin_123456789_old to Robin_123456789.
  3. Rename SaveGameInfo_old to SaveGameInfo. Remove only the final _old from each filename; do not add .txt.
  4. Check that the main save filename exactly matches its containing folder, then launch the game and test Load.

Verify before continuing

Check the character, farm and in-game date before continuing to play. The _old pair is normally one in-game day behind. Keep the untouched backup even if loading succeeds.

If Windows asks to replace an existing file, cancel and recheck the holding-folder step. If the farm still fails to load, close the game and move the attempted character folder out of Saves. Copy the untouched backup back into Saves under its original folder name; keep the failed attempt for troubleshooting. Do not combine files from different characters or try this Windows path on a console or phone.
