Scizor itself must move from the Bench to the Active Spot on the turn it uses Gale Thrust to gain the extra 50 damage. Moving Scyther first and evolving afterward does not qualify.
Check the sequence, not just the Active Spot
| Sequence | Extra 50? |
|---|---|
| Evolve Scyther on the Bench → move Scizor to Active → use Gale Thrust that turn | Yes |
| Move Scyther to Active → evolve into Scizor → use Gale Thrust | No |
| Your Active Pokémon is knocked out on your opponent’s turn → promote Scizor → leave it Active → attack next turn | No |
Plan before moving your Pokémon
- If your plan starts with Scyther, evolve it while it is still on the Bench, when evolution is legal.
- Arrange a legal way to move Scizor into the Active Spot during your attack turn.
- Use Gale Thrust that same turn, with its attack requirements met.
