Yes, Netflix, Apple Arcade and standard Bloons TD 6 players can play together in supported co-op matches. But a match with a friend does not prove you can move your progress to their edition. Ninja Kiwi says standard BTD6 cannot sync game data with either the Netflix edition or BTD6+.
If you only want to join a friend, check co-op compatibility first. If you want to change where you play, check save compatibility separately before installing another edition or buying another copy.
Check the edition, not just the device
An iPhone or Android phone alone does not tell you which edition someone has. Compare the full app name and the store or service it came from. In this guide, standard means the regular mobile or desktop game, Netflix means Bloons TD 6 Netflix, and BTD6+ means the Apple Arcade edition.
Ask your friend for the edition name, not their login details. Two people both saying “I play BTD6 on my phone” have not yet answered the compatibility question. If you are switching devices yourself, write down the edition you use now and the exact destination edition.
Co-op and save sync at a glance
| Edition pair | Can you play together? | Can progress sync between them? |
|---|---|---|
| Standard and Netflix | Private co-op; the standard app must be current | No |
| Standard and BTD6+ | Quick and private co-op; both need the same latest game version | No |
| Netflix and BTD6+ | Private co-op; the BTD6+ app must be current | Not established by the official help reviewed here |
For Netflix, the confirmed option here is private co-op. Do not read that as a promise about quick or public matchmaking. The unknown save-sync entry is also deliberate: the two separate FAQs about the standard edition do not answer every possible pairing.
You want to join a friend tonight
For a supported private match, one player creates a lobby and shares its lobby code; the other joins using that code. Netflix confirms that adding each other as friends is not required first.
Keep the three kinds of code separate:
- A lobby code gets you into a particular co-op lobby.
- A friend code is for adding another player to your friends list.
- An account-linking code belongs to a supported account-linking process. It is not a co-op invitation.
If your only goal is a game together, start with the lobby. There is no reason to try moving a save or sharing an account just to invite someone. Keep passwords and account-linking codes private; only use a linking code in the official flow for your own account.
You want to keep your progress on another edition
For a move between standard BTD6 and Netflix, or between standard BTD6 and BTD6+, plan on separate progress. The developer’s save-sync answers are no for both pairs. Buying or installing the destination edition should not be treated as a way around those limits.
A co-op lobby says the game types are incompatible
Ninja Kiwi lists several possible causes for the “Game Types Not Compatible” error: an outdated game, an unofficial installation, or a modified game or save. Check the official store for updates on both sides. For standard BTD6 with BTD6+, also compare the versions: the co-op FAQ requires matching current versions.
These are checks, not a diagnosis of every failed invitation. If the error remains, use official support rather than resetting your progress. Describe the two editions and the error you see; keep account details out of public posts.
Console is a separate case. Ninja Kiwi says the console edition cannot join co-op on other platforms, and that its data does not sync with the standard game. Do not apply the mobile/desktop comparison table to a console purchase.
Before you change anything
- Name both editions and decide whether you need co-op, continuing progress, or both.
- For a friend’s match, choose a confirmed co-op route and check the relevant version requirements.
- For a progress move, find official instructions covering your exact starting and destination editions.
- Treat an unverified pairing as unresolved, not as a hidden workaround.
- Keep your original save accessible and verify any supported move before cleaning up old files.
A friend being able to join you answers the multiplayer question. Your save needs its own check. Making that check before changing editions can save you from expecting a fresh installation to contain progress it cannot sync.
