Honkai: Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail sends you across worlds aboard the Astral Express, meeting companions and getting pulled into their problems along the way. It mixes a voiced space-fantasy story with places to investigate, giving its cast plenty of time outside the battlefield.

When a fight begins, quick reflexes take a back seat to party planning. Turn-based battles ask you to consider enemy weaknesses and how your characters' abilities fit together. A team built around follow-up attacks can behave quite differently from one relying on damage over time, so changing a lineup can be more useful than repeating an unsuccessful approach.

Side activities and puzzles break up the main adventure, while character development gives you longer-term goals between story chapters. It is a natural fit if you like thinking through a battle and following an ensemble cast. Expect an ongoing RPG with optional purchases, including random virtual items, rather than a one-off purchase that immediately hands over every character.
