Evoland makes the history of adventure games part of its progression. Exploring the world unlocks new visual styles and gameplay systems, moving from monochrome scenes towards full 3D environments. Battles also change form, taking in turn-based encounters and real-time boss fights.

Dungeons, puzzles and hidden discoveries connect those shifts into a single journey. You can revisit familiar locations with their newly unlocked presentation and explore the overworld by airship. References to classic games run through the story and its changing rules.
