Epic Seven

Epic Seven makes its heroes feel like the cast of an animated fantasy series, with story scenes and elaborate skill animations carrying that style into battle. You build a team and work through a world shaped by gods, guardians and repeated catastrophe, gradually finding characters you want to invest in.

The combat is turn-based, giving team strategy room to matter without requiring action-game reflexes. Beyond the story, the Raid Labyrinth provides another kind of challenge, while arenas and real-time World Arena battles let you test a lineup against other players. Guild Wars add coordinated competition and a reason to discuss plans with a regular group.

There is a lot here for someone who enjoys both an anime cast and a long-running team-building project. Competitive play also means that learning matchups and developing characters becomes part of the routine, rather than a brief tutorial.
